Due to the Covid-19 crisis, the guidelines for opening, and the physical size of our bar, we will not be able to open for Gay Pride 2020.
The guidelines for reopening are very strict and difficult to achieve in a venue as small as Ty’s as well as our very limited sidewalk space. Even with the street being closed, we will still be responsible for the expected crowd in front of the bar, making it impossible to control social distancing and outdoor drinking rules.
The potential cost of fines and the possible loss of our liquor license for violating guidelines outweighs the benefits of opening.
I cannot express our disappointment, frustration, and anger over being closed for the first time since 1972 on Gay Pride.
We will miss everyone, but considering all the risks, including the health and safety of our staff and all of you, this is the most prudent decision.
We wish everyone a safe and happy 50th Anniversary Pride and look forward to seeing all of you once this pandemic is over.
HUGS TO ALL
